Ashley Schor
Clinical Mental Health Counseling Practicum Student

Ashley is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student at Lamar University and a seasoned community engagement specialist. During her practicum at Community Art Therapy, she will offer sliding-scale sessions under the supervision of Kami Land, LPC, ATR.

Ashley brings a rich blend of creative insight and clinical grounding to her work. Through her peer mentorship program, she has supported clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental disabilities, bipolar disorder, and schizoaffective disorder. Her approach integrates somatic, artistic, and talk-based methods to meet individuals where they are—building trust, fostering insight, and sparking growth through connection.

Using a person-centered and Jungian approach, Ashley incorporates Dialectical Behavioral tools, Sandtray play, and expressive arts interventions to help clients explore their values, practice emotional regulation, and rediscover their unique strengths. She believes deeply in the healing power of creativity and the wisdom that emerges when people feel safe to express themselves authentically.

With 18 years of experience as the founder of Bead It and three years amplifying mental-health initiatives for Community Art Therapy, Ashley blends her artistic roots with evidence-based practice. She has facilitated numerous trauma-informed workshops across Texas—including healing gatherings for teachers and families through the Uvalde Love Project and is currently working with Kerr County Love Project.

Ashley’s sessions are rooted in compassion, presence, and the belief that we all carry the tools to heal. She aims to work collaboratively with her clients, meeting them where they are in their journey and building on the skills and unique attributes that make a person special.

Note: Ashley's current Practicum window is through December 10th and will pick back up in January when her Internship begins. She will be able to see clients during the time when school is in session, ensuring ethical oversight for clients seeing her at Community Arts Therapy.

Ashley is accepting new clients at our South Austin location.
