Child & Adolescent Therapist | Nature Enthusiast | Community Healer

“When I was young, I told people I wanted to be ‘the first doctor ballerina in space.’ Today, I realize I’ve been on a lifelong journey weaving healing, learning, and creativity to help young people thrive.”

Meagan Butler is a dedicated therapist, educator, and community leader with over 18 years of experience supporting youth, families, and individuals. A proud Austin native, Meagan’s work bridges mental health, education, trauma-informed care, and creative approaches to healing.

After witnessing the effects of suicide among friends in high school and the trauma her students faced early in her teaching career, Meagan pursued a Master’s degree and clinical license, stepping fully into the mental health field. She worked as a school counselor, eventually being honored as Austin ISD’s District-Wide Counselor of the Year, and later became a central office counseling leader, supporting hundreds of counselors across the district.

During her leadership, Meagan introduced innovative applied neuroscience interventions into schools and navigated the challenges of guiding a counseling team through the pandemic. Witnessing the widespread impacts of crisis and trauma inspired her commitment to preventative care, population health, and system-level change.

She specializes in trauma-informed practices and applied neuroscience, bringing deep knowledge and compassion to her work with children, adolescents, and families. Meagan is a certified Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI) Practitioner, a Neurosequential Model in Education® Trainer, and has completed Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Adolescents training. Her holistic, relational approach centers safety, connection, and empowerment.

Meagan holds a BA from Pepperdine University and an MEd from the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently completing her PhD in School Improvement at Texas State University. As a lead researcher and therapist on the Uvalde Love Project, Meagan helped design and deliver community healing interventions in the aftermath of the Robb Elementary tragedy. She also contributes to statewide crisis response efforts and serves as Chief Care Model Officer for Lucero, a game-inspired emotional companion app supporting the mental health of tweens and teens.

Passionate about fostering connection, resilience, and belonging, Meagan works with the LGBTQIA+ community, families, children, teens, and young adults. Whether supporting clients one-on-one or helping entire communities heal, she brings warmth, creativity, and expertise to every space she holds—believing that healing happens in connection and that every person deserves hope and care.
